The first bra and breast form fitting following a mastectomy can often be met with mixed emotions. There is usually some excitement at the prospect of looking and feeling balanced and symmetrical once again. Yet often there can be apprehension about what it will be like to wear a prosthetic and whether it can live up to our expectations.
At Madeline Rose Mastectomy, we thought we would give you a little glimpse into the fitting process. It is our hope that you enjoy your time with your fitter. She is there to make the process honest and understandable and take the burden off you in finding YOUR perfect bra and breast form.

1) You Will Feel Welcome.
At Madeline Rose our goal is to make you feel welcomed. You will be greeted by our owner and fitter, Jamie who will listen and personalize your experience so that you feel comfortable and cared for.

2) We Will Help You Find Your Style
Before the fitting begins you will have an opportunity to discuss what qualities you prefer in a bra. This helps our fitter to get to know you a little better and what qualities in a bra work best with your lifestyle, clothing, or comfort level.
3) Review Your Clinical History
If this is your first fitting at Madeline Rose Mastectomy it will be important to gain a little information about the type of surgery performed and whether you have any ongoing concerns related to your surgery. Some of the information gathered at this time will be related to lymphedema, skin numbness, tingling, sensitivity, or range of motion issues.

4) Go Through The Fitting Process
The fitting process is part art and part science. Our fitter will measure for your band and cup size and determine your breast profile. This is also the time to observe the topography of the chest wall to see if there are undulations to consider when choosing a bra and breast form. A bra will be fitted to your natural breast first. Once a good fit is found, the fitter will then choose the breast form that will look most like your natural breast and that fits in the pocket of your new bra. If you have undergone a bilateral mastectomy, then the fitter will work together with you to determine the cup size that allows you to feel confident and proportioned to the rest of your body.
Each bra and breast form has its own distinct features. What works for one person may not work for another. Therefore, it may take several attempts to find that perfect bra and form! Good fit is worth the investment. We are committed to finding what will work for you. With all fitting, measurements are taking to make sure the breast projection and symmetry have been achieved.
Finally, it is time to try on your new bra and form with your clothing. This is the final step to make sure you feel confident and happy with your appearance.
5) Review Insurance And Billing
Once the fitting has been completed, we will review your insurance and sign the necessary forms to complete the billing process.
We hope your experience at Madeline Rose Mastectomy Boutique is pleasant and that you find a bra that makes you feel confident.
